Welcome to AO's 6th annual "Paddle Happy" event! Break up the winter funk and come get ready - and excited - for spring!!

Now that we're settled in the new shop, this years Paddle Happy will have a couple new additions. Along with incredible sales, delicious finger foods and live music, we'll have workshops throughout the day!

Workshops (roughly 30 minutes in length):
10:30 - Local Allegheny River Caution Areas: United "rapids" and Mead Island, explained.
11:30 - All Things Hammock: Insulation, pads, straps, rain fly's, bug nets - see how they work and test 'em out - inside!
12:30 - Day Hike Essentials: What to carry and wear for success!
1:30 - Fly Tying Demonstration: Ray Sturdevant from Pennwild Outdoors will walk folks through the steps of tying a fly.
2:30 - DNA of a river: Basic run through of natural and man-made hazards and how the affect the paddling environment.

Dana will be on site to talk about Goat Fort climbing gym progress and tours of the space are likely! AO's hiking guru Nate will be on hand to answer questions about our upcoming guided hikes and backpacking trips; Ray Sturdevant will be here to answer questions about Pennwild Outdoors (archery, fishing and hunting shop) that'll be opening this year; Egypt Hollow will be playing their awesome acoustic set from 2-4pm; and Bent Run Brewing Company will be open!

As for the sale - EVERY kayak, SUP and backpack in the shop will be on sale! We've got more than 25 different rec kayak, fishing kayak and SUP models in stock from Old Town, Ocean, Aurora and Jackson Kayaks, ranging in prices from $449 on up. This will be the ONLY time in 2020 that not only will EVERY boat be discounted, but every boat purchase will include FREE weekend shuttles to Kinzua Dam from Memorial Day through Labor Day! If you're looking for gear to get you on the water or in the woods this year, you don't want to miss this event!

We'll also have oodles of information on 2020 happenings along the Allegheny River and in the Allegheny National Forest - from poker runs to backpacking workshops; trail maintenance to full moon paddles; SUP classes to Mountain Bike Festivals to fly fishing classes - and everything in-between!
