Guided Trips

Our guided trips are all about building our local paddling community. If you're not comfortable exploring alone, or would like to meet other paddlers and hikers in our area, these trips are a great way to do that.

Women on the Water

Grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, daughters -- escape your hectic schedules and enjoy the stunning Allegheny River and its tributaries. These trips are perfect for beginning paddlers young and old, those new to the river or for more experienced paddlers who just want some company on the water. Each trip is roughly three to four hours long and covers a popular, calm and scenic part of the river or creek.

Bring water and a couple snacks, a good hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and an extra layer just in case. Bringing your own kayak is always welcome (shuttle fee varies with stretch of river we're covering), rentals are available if needed ($35/kayak).

Reservations required for logistics, even if you're bringing your own kayak, please let us know. Email piper@alleghenyoutfitters.com, or call (814) 723-3030 for more information.

2023 Dates: TBD

Moonlight Paddle

Come enjoy a peaceful paddle under the stars on Kinzua Lake!

Recommended gear: long pants and long sleeve shirt, water bottle, snacks and a light for your boat (light is required!).

Meeting location is usually Kiasutha boat launch. Cost: $35 if you need to rent a canoe or kayak, or just meet us out there if you have your own. For more information contact Allegheny Outfitters at (814) 723-3030.

2023 Dates TBD.

Hikes

AO does a group hike in the Allegheny National Forest periodically throughout the year. In the winter, these may turn into snowshoe hikes depending on the amount of snow we have. (Snowshoe rentals available at AO Store.)

We also sponsor a number of hiking events throughout the year, including the Firefly Volksmarch at Hearts Content Recreation Area in May, and Leafpeeper Volksmarch at Tracy Ridge in October. These are fun, family friendly, guided hikes with a feast upon our return. See our events calendar for a complete line-up of hikes and other outings.
